Bulging discs, Bone Spurs, and Fused Joints...OH My!

Well the verdict is in and my back is in pitiful shape. No wonder I have pinched nerves, I have not one issue but three to give me grief. I will be going in for cortisone shots in my spine, which should give me relief, and surgery is not in the picture, but it is something that I am going to have to learn to live with I guess.
Oh and I have to lose weight, which I have had so much luck with in the past...so what do you suggest complete starvation or rabbit food diet for me? I am also going to have to get more exercise in my days and nights. So wish me luck and learning to live an entirely new lifestyle. I know it can be done, but remember I am such a pessimist and have limited self esteem so I could certainly fail at all of this miserably.
Other fronts still working, still Boy Scout mama, need to get better with the homeschooling mom duties though.
Papa Bear is on lay-off this week so we're spring cleaning a little bit before spring actually arrives. Mainly reorganizing now, the scrubbing will come when we can open up the windows...I have been known to overdose on bleach in the past.

Oh no! You poor thing! I've got several herniated discs and that's bad enough, I can't imagine having all of those other issues, too! I hope that the cortisone shots help and that you can manage to avoid any sort of surgery. I had back surgery in August of 2005 but I still seem to have problems with my back way too frequently.

I'm with you in the "need to lose some weight and start doing some exercise" department because I know it would make it so much easier on my back but all of that is so much easier said than done.

Take it easy on the bleach and don't knock yourself out with the Spring cleaning!

I hope your back feels better soon. I've lost 17 pounds so far with Sensa.

I suggest baby steps. So far I have stopped gaining weight, but since I have back issues too., I can't work out. So it has to be a brand new diet. Just start small one thing at a time. You can do it. If you starve yourself it will just come right back because (i am assuming) you can't exercise.

Your attitude will be your biggest obstacle, not your diet. Reading this post makes me think you've already doomed yourself to fail.

But, wouldn't it feel better to succeed?

P.S. I can be a good cheerleader if you need one!!

My friend's mother is having surgery next month because of pinched nerves and she needs to lose weight. I lost 35 pounds in about 12 months by cutting back. Try not to think of it as a diet, but as a lifestyle change. Reduce your sugar a bit, increase fruits a bit and try smaller servings. When you notice the changes from those small things you'll be motivated to keep going. Sensa, which Tammy mentioned, is a good alternative to losing weight. I tried it too and it doesn't help to stop overeating. I hope you find an exercise you like and that will be comfortable for you to do.

That quite a list of problems. I hope that whatever needs to be done for you to have relief can be done. As for weight loss, I need to drop about 250 lbs.

I had left you some information last week that might help you with your back. Its a bummer, but you can learn to live with it.

Make sure your doctor gives you muscle relaxers (acute pain) and anti-inflammatory (to prevent acute attack). See if the doctor will get you some physical therapy. The PT can show you how to stretch and lay where the pain is lessened.

Those shots work pretty well for a while and the drug they use to knock you out will put you in lala land. You cannot drive yourself.

Give your high heels away and get some comfortable shoes.

Give up vacuuming and mopping. Those types of movements will kill you. This is the upside to a bad back! LOL

God bless.
